Blueport Commerce: Cyber Sales Climb for Retailers

E-commerce services provider Blueport Commerce  said its retail customers reported more than 100 percent year-over-year growth in online sales on Cyber Monday.

The record-breaking sales day marked Blueport’s largest day, surpassing Black Friday sales, which increased 104 percent year-over-year.

“We’re beyond thrilled with the results seen across our platform this peak holiday sales weekend, especially on Cyber Monday,” said Carl Prindle, president and CEO of Blueport. “For Cyber Monday to surpass Black Friday growth in a highly store-based category – that’s a true testament to the way consumers shop for furniture today, and how retailers can attract them with a seamless, easy, and intuitive omni-channel experience.”

In addition to the 100 percent increase in revenue, retailers on the Blueport platform broke records Cyber Monday, including (in aggregate):

  • 56 percent increase in site traffic year-over-year;
  • 111 percent increase in orders placed year-over-year, and;
  • 35 percent increase in conversion rate year-over-year.

Sales spiked in the evening hours of Cyber Monday, with the largest sales hour occurring at 10 p.m. Eastern time. For several of Blueport’s clients, Cyber Monday marked the largest online sales day on record.

“The tremendous growth seen by retailers marks a year during which our clients have made significant strides in e-commerce,” Prindle said. “These are some of the largest furniture retailers in North America who are setting a precedent for a category once thought impossible to sell online. We look forward to another major milestone ahead for our Canadian clients – Boxing Day.”
