West Elm to Open Pasadena Store

New York-based home furnishings retailer West Elm will open a Pasadena, Calif., location this week.

Product from 13 California-based makers will be available in store as part of West Elm’s local initiative to connect the community with designers and artisans from across the state. Pasadena-based illustrator Pei Design will create a limited edition tote bag to be gifted to the first 300 shoppers with a $50 minimum purchase.

“Our expansion in Southern California puts us in a position to help impact the businesses of our local artisans,” said Jim Brett, president of West Elm. “Their product complements our assortment and offers a compelling reason to visit our stores and discover emerging talent.”

The 10,000-square-foot store will feature a mural inspired by the planetary mapping projects of NASA’s nearby Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

West Elm Pasadena at Paseo Colorado’s grand opening is set for Thursday.
