MicroD Awarded U.S. Patent for Online Furniture Solution

Charlotte, N.C.-based MicroD has been awarded a U.S. Patent for its Design Your Own solution, an online custom furniture configuration and visualization product.
The integrated web-based home furnishings merchandising and e-commerce solutions provider was issued the U.S. Patent on Oct. 20. It covers the inventions of MicroD CEO and President Manoj Nigam and other team members that relate generally to product display, and more particularly to a system and method for creating a database for generating product visualizations.
“As more and more of today’s furniture shoppers embrace personalized products, retailers and brands have come to understand the strategic importance of offering advanced tools to facilitate customization,” Nigam said.
MicroD’s solution gives customers, sales associates and interior designers the power to configure and visualize a wide range of product options such as arm types, seat backs, trims and other components for upholstery and case goods.
The solution is available as part of MicroD’s OmniVue website and ePreVue visualization software platforms. It is currently used by home furnishings companies including Bassett Furniture, Drexel Heritage, Ethan Allen, Haverty’s and Lexington Home Brands.
