Rooms To Go to Open N.C. Facility Saturday

Furniture retailer Rooms To Go will open its super center in Dunn, N.C., Saturday morning.

The newly built facility is about 1.45 million square feet and sits on 120 acres. The complex houses a Rooms To Go showroom, a Rooms To Go Kids/Teens showroom, an outlet center and a distribution center.

The center will create about 400 jobs for the area.

The 1.3 million square foot distribution center will serve the Seffner, Fla.-based retailer’s stores throughout North Carolina and South Carolina and along the I-95 corridor.

Rooms To Go operates stores in Raleigh, N.C.; Durham, N.C.; Greensboro, N.C.; Wilmington, N.C.; Fayetteville, N.C.; and Myrtle Beach, S.C. The retailer has said it has plans for expanding its footprint in South Carolina.

"We are thrilled with the reception we've received in Dunn, Harnett County and throughout the wonderful state of North Carolina,” said Jeff Seaman, CEO. “We intend to be a vibrant contributor to the community for years to come. Not only will we continue to offer the very best of Rooms To Go style, quality and value but now with our new state of the art distribution facility, we'll be able to do it even faster and better. This amazing facility will allow us to provide our customers with the largest inventory of home furnishings in the Southeast and add  hundreds of new people to the Rooms To Go family."

Rooms To Go is a supporter of numerous charities and will donate a portion of opening day sales to the Dunn Police Athletic & Activities League that works with kids at risk through athletic, tutoring and mentoring programs.

Rooms To Go and the City of Dunn received assistance for the project through road improvements made by the North Carolina Department of Transportation, as well as support from the Community Development Block Grant Program, the Golden Leaf Foundation, the North Carolina Rural Economic Development Center and the One North Carolina Fund.

In addition, a portion of the project was financed with loans made possible through the Federal New Market Tax Credit program through NMTC allocations of CityScape Capital Group, LLC, the Community Affordable Housing Equity Corporation (CAHEC) and SunTrust Community Capital, LLC.

"Rooms To Go has quickly become a vibrant and caring member of our community,” said Oscar Harris, mayor of Dunn, N.C. “We welcome them and look forward to many years of working together for the good of the community and the area at large.”
