Ikea Opens in St. Louis Today

The newest Ikea in the U.S. and the first location in Missouri opens its doors today in St. Louis.
The store is the retailer’s 41st location in the U.S. Ikea operates 377 stores in 48 countries.
The 360,000-square-foot St. Louis store sits on 21 acres along Interstate 64. The store employs more than 300 workers.
Consumers were allowed to line up for giveaways beginning Monday morning. The retailer brought out entertainment for those in line at 6 a.m. Central time today.
“Just as our store will bring the unique IKEA family-friendly shopping experience to St. Louis and beyond, we want waiting in line to visit our store to be an exciting and memorable event, too,” said John Achillea, St. Louis store manager.
