Universal Furniture Gets Green Award

Universal Furniture will be recognized by the City of High Point and the High Point Market Authority Monday with the Green Market Award.

The company, which opened its showroom at 101 S. Hamilton St. in High Point in April, is getting the award for its proper handling of trash and recycling during the Spring High Point Market

During a typical Market, more than 500 tons of cardboard in addition to other recyclable material is recycled through the High Point City’s waste disposal department. Showrooms that comply with city guidelines help the city to ensure the collection of recycling and trash runs smoothly during a hectic and busy time for the Public Services Department.

Universal Furniture consistently followed the city’s collection guidelines

In the past, the City of High Point and the Market Authority have presented the Green Market Award to one showroom annually.

The award will now be presented bi-annually, recognizing one showroom after each Market.
