XPO Logistics to Acquire Trucker Con-way

The acquisition, which will give XPO its first entree into the U.S. trucking business, follows on the heels of other acquisitions by XPO. 

Earlier this year, XPO bought French trucker Norbert Dentressangle for $3.5 billion.

The company said it plans to increase annual operating profit from the acquired operations by $170 million to $210 million through cost savings and operational improvements executed over the next two years. 

The deal is expected to close in October.
