FastFact: Apartment Rentals Remain on the Increase

The housing industry fell during the great recession, and one sector benefited from it.
Apartment rentals have seen a massive increase since 2007, with rents growing 20 percent and vacancy rates plummeting to 6.8 percent. And, even though the future seems to hold a nice recovery for the housing industry, apartment rentals will continue to rise for now.
Over the last eight years, the heart of the millennial generation has aged into the prime rental age, and the group remain there for the next five. After that, however, the bulk of today’s largest living generation will be buying houses and moving out of apartments.
