HOM Golf Event Raises $250,000 for Charity

Retailer HOM Furniture raised more than $250,000 for charity in the 26th annual HOM Open golf tournament.

The primary beneficiary is Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge, a faith-based recovery program for people struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

Three hundred golfers hit the links this month at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake. Guests including HOM Furniture vendor partners from across the country, enjoyed brunch,  an 18-hole tournament, and a celebratory dinner with guests from Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge who shared stories of how the program enabled them to heal, hope, and re-gain freedom in their lives.

“For almost 30 years, Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge has provided comprehensive addiction treatment and long-term recovery, prevention programs, as well as extensive aftercare programs for their graduates,” said Wayne Johansen, founder and chairman of HOM Furniture, who co-chairs the annual event with his wife Char. “The HOM Open is an event that Char and I, along with our family, vendors and guests look forward to all year. It’s a highlight of our summer, as everyone has a great time while supporting an amazing cause.”

Plans are underway for the 27th annual tournament which will be held Thursday, Aug. 18 at Majestic Oaks Golf Club.
