Surya Makes Inc. 5000 for 5th Year

Rug, accessories and accent furniture supplier Surya has landed on the Inc. magazine’s 5000 list for the fifth straight year.

Surya was number 3,277 on the list. Its 2014 ranking was 2,818.

The company secured its listing in part due to its 103 percent revenue growth and the addition of 135 jobs during a three-year period. By revenue, Surya ranked in the top 25 in the Consumer Products & Services segment and 14 among 221 Georgia-based companies making the list. In recognition of its five-year track record of strong growth, the company also garnered a spot on the Inc. 5000 Honor Roll.

This achievement marks a significant accomplishment for Surya, which has doubled its revenue during the past three years, growing from $50 million in sales in 2011 to $101.3 million in 2014. Contributing to this steady organic growth is the brand’s incremental expansion into multiple home accessory categories, including – most recently – lighting and bedding, and new channels such as hospitality and outdoor. Committed to innovation, Surya is also providing its customers with targeted, technology-driven merchandising and sales solutions designed to help them optimize home accessory sales.

“Family businesses like Surya are a significant contributor in creating jobs and value for our economy, and our continued growth in both revenue and head count validates that we are making a real impact,” said Satya Tiwari, Surya president. “This success wouldn’t be possible without the many retailers and designers who support our vision as well as our employees and partners who, through their passion and determination, are pushing the limits on service delivery and raising the bar for the home furnishings industry. We are truly honored to be named to the Inc. 5000 list for the fifth year running.”

The company will relocate to a one-million-square-foot corporate office and distribution facility in Cartersville, Ga., later this year. The move will allow Surya to consolidate shipping and distribution for its product offerings, creating a highly efficient logistics base and increased operational flexibility while also enabling the addition of more than 200 jobs during the next several years.

“The story of this year’s Inc. 5000 is the story of great leadership,” said Eric Schurenberg, president and editor in chief of Inc. “In an incredibly competitive business landscape, it takes something extraordinary to take your company to the top. Business owners don’t achieve that kind of success by accident.”
