Arhaus Furnishes New York Home in Southpaw Movie

Cleveland-based Arhaus, a home furnishings retailer, furnished a New York home for the boxing drama Southpaw starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams and Forest Whitaker.

The movie opens in theaters today, July 24.

Arhaus collaborated with the set decorator to furnish the luxury New York mansion, home to boxer and main character, Billy Hope, his wife Maureen and their family. The residence was shot on location in Pittsburgh and serves as the main stage for the film and overall story written by Kurt Sutter and directed by Antoine Fuqua.

Arhaus provided sofas, chairs, bar stools, lighting, coffee and end tables, office furniture and outdoor accessories.

“We selected strong, modern pieces with clean lines that fit into the house, which was really on the more traditional side,” said Melissa Lombardo, set decorator for Southpaw. “The furnishings are grand showcasing the young couple’s newly acquired success and wealth, but they also have a warm and comfortable feel to represent their life as a family and Maureen as she’s absent in a large portion of the film.”
