The deal includes all case goods and most of the company’s upholstery products.
This is the second major acquisition by Kindel in a year. Last year, the company bought Karges Furniture Co.
“The combined companies of Kindel, Karges and Councill now reflect the best of the best in American craftsmanship, quality and timeless design,” said James Fisher, owner and chairman of Kindel. “The growth opportunities for Kindel and its stable of brands are enormous. We strive to be the company that builds to order and offers custom capabilities in the most extensive sense. It is a natural for Councill to join the Kindel companies.”
With the acquisition, the company will shift production from Councill’s Denton, N.C., factory to Grand Rapids, Mich.
Moore Councill, son of Councill founder Fred Councill, has joined the combined companies as senior vice president of sales for all Kindel brands.
