2015 by in Economic News, Industry
Since 2000, the technology industry has vastly outpaced the furniture industry in growth, and that is reflected in the changes seen in a comparison of consumer spending between the two categories.
When broken down by distribution of personal consumption on an annual basis, we can see spending on furniture has fallen while spending on televisions has increased.
While furniture does still hold the majority of the personal expenditures, the industry only garnered 56.2 percent in 2015, as compared with 62.2 percent in 2000. Meanwhile, televisions rose from 13 percent of the personal consumption in 2000 to 21.5 percent in 2015.
