Charleston’s Morris Sokol to Close

The retailer, founded in 1921, has been a fixture on King Street for decades. A closing sale will begin July 16 at the 37,000-square-foot store.

Owner Joe Sokol, 83, is retiring, and no other family members are interested in taking over the business.

The store is located in Charleston’s Upper King corridor, a prime real estate location that is currently in the midst of a number of development projects.
