Havertys 2Q Sales Climb 7.2%

Atlanta-based home furnishings retailer Havertys (NYSE: HVT) has reported  sales of $187.7 million for the second quarter ended June 30, a 7.2 percent increase compared with sales of $175.1 million in the second quarter last year.

Same store sales increased 4.8 percent in the quarter.

Sales for the first six moths totaled $379.1 million, a 6.2 percent increase compared with $356.9 million in 2014.

“Our 7.2 percent total delivered sales increase for the quarter was led by continued growth in the upholstery and dining categories,” said Clarence Smith, chairman, president and CEO. “Rug and other accessory merchandise sales are also rising with the expanding involvement of our in-home design team. The average sales ticket for the quarter was up approximately 3.3 percent.”

During the second quarter, the retailer opened two new markets—Rogers, Ark., and Waco, Texas. In January, Havertys opened a store in Coconut Creek, Fla.
