Groovystuff Partners with Marywood University on Design Challenge

Students from the interior architecture and design program from Marywood University will participate in “The Groovystuff by Design:  Connecting Education with Industry Challenge” for the summer 2015 academic semester.

Participants in the eco-friendly furniture challenge will debut final design projects at the Las Vegas World Market August 2-6, and at the Fall High Point Market in “The University Hall of Innovation & Job Creation” October 17-22.

Groovystuff is sponsoring the challenge, a sustainable educational platform established in 2010 by Chris Bruning of Groovystuff to introduce future graduates to the intricacies involved in designing a home décor, accent, or occasional home furnishings product using reclaimed materials.

Students will submit a 20” x 30” product board, quarter-inch scale model and 42-inch tall pedestal for their models for a chance to compete in the popular vote at Market. The winning design will receive a $250 cash prize.

The student designs will be examined and critiqued by market professionals for their overall marketability and for licensing consideration and inclusion in the Groovystuff catalog.

“Having the students designs reviewed by market professionals prior to production at both the Las Vegas World Market and the High Point Furniture Market allows us to refine each of these amazing concepts into a product that buyers want to see and more importantly want to purchase for their clients,” said Groovystuff’s Chris Bruning.

The program was founded in 2010 to bridge the gap between education and the residential home furnishings industry.
