The 560,000-square-foot showroom and 1.86 million-square-foot complex in the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area kicked off its grand opening celebration Thursday morning.
The ceremony was kicked off by the presenting of colors by the American Legion Post 21 color guard and presided over by Nebraska Furniture Mart, president and COO Ron Blumkin, grandson to the original and legendary founder Rose Blumkin. Additional words were given by The Colony Mayor Joe McCourry, Denton County Commissioner Ronald Marchant, and Texas Store Director, Ed Lipsett.
“About five years ago we began the search for the location of our next store,” Blumkin said. “While we had several great options, in the end, our decision boiled down to relationships. The Dallas/Fort Worth metro was the right place, with the right values and where we could be most successful. The Colony made us feel like we were family. We look forward to serving your community with the same commitment to providing our customers with the legendary low prices, greatest selection and service that has made us successful for the last 78 years.”
The retailer starts this momentous event with a theme befitting America’s largest home furnishing store, “It’s Huge” and not just in reference to size of the showroom. The company is offering grand opening pricing throughout the store. Shoppers also have the opportunity to enter to win more than $68,000 in prizes including a new Cadillac SRX from local Crest Cars a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary.
