AHFA Partners Awards 6 Scholarships
The Solution Partners division of the American Home Furnishings Alliance (AHFA) has awarded six $2,000 scholarships to students who are children of AHFA member-company employees.
The scholarships are presented annually as part of AHFA’s Solution Partners Education Program, which is supported by an annual golf tournament. The Solution Partners division has more than 150 members, all producers of products and services targeted for the residential furniture manufacturing industry.
The 2015 scholarship recipients include Patrick Underwood, son of Harry Underwood, an employee of Stanley Furniture in Martinsville, Va.; Tatum McMullan, son of Timothy McMullan, an employee of La-Z-Boy in South Newton, Miss.; Bailey Jennings, daughter of David Jennings of La-Z-Boy Midwest in Neosho, Mo.; Aaron Talib, son of Hilda Talib, a La-Z-Boy employee in Beavercreek, Ohio; Katelynn Osborne, daughter of Warren Osborne of Craftmaster Furniture in Hiddenite, N.C.; and Megan Branch, daughter of Melissa Wright, an HSM Solutions employee in Lenoir, N.C.
All students age 21 or younger who are enrolled in or planning to enroll in a four-year college or university, a junior or community college, or a vocational or technical school are eligible to apply for the Solution Partners scholarship if they have a parent who works for an AHFA member company. The one-year scholarships are based on financial need and merit of the student. More than 100 scholarships have been awarded since the program was launched in 1990.
The 25th Annual Solution Partners Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 30 at Lake Hickory Country Club in Hickory, N.C. Tournament registration is $500 per foursome or $150 per player. September 11 is the deadline for registering to play. Interested players can sign up online. Information on tournament sponsorships is available by e-mailing Mary O’Keeffe.
