Furniture Orders Climb 8%

Furniture orders jumped 8 percent in February compared to last February and up 7 percent year to date, according the the latest data available from SmithLeonard’s Furniture Insights.
New orders in February were up for 59 percent of the survey’s participants, down from 70 percent reporting increased orders last month.
Ken Smith, audit partner for the company, said the increase in orders was “a bit misleading in that February 2014 orders were down 2 percent, so the 2015 increase was only 5 percent up from 2013.”
February shipments increased 12 percent over the same month last year and were up 11 percent year to date.
