I.O. Metro Names New CEO

Fast-growing lifestyle retailer I.O. Metro has named a new chief executive officer.
John Erdos will join the company from Singapore where he has lived for the last 24 years.
“We are pleased to welcome John Erdos to the I.O. Metro family,” said Lou Spagna, the retailer’s current CEO. “We are confident he will continue to lead the company to even greater success. John is well known throughout the home furnishings industry and brings with him an eye for innovation and beautiful design.”
Spagna, who has held the CEO position since 2012, will retire later this year.
Erdos, who received his MBA from Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University, is the founder of John Erdos Home, a Singapore-based home furnishings retailer he established 23 years ago. Prior to that, he was vice president of J Crew’s Far East operations.
John Erdos Home is known for its furniture made from solid, reclaimed teak wood. Erdos designs all of the furniture which is made in the company’s own workshop in Central Java, Indonesia. The company offers a full assortment of gifts and accessories sourced from all across Asia.
Erdos’ furniture and accessories can be found in homes around the world. Celebrity clients include Giorgio Armani, Julia Roberts, Helen Hunt, Susan Sarandon and others. John Erdos Home also sells display tables to Abercrombie & Fitch's Hollister division.
“I am thrilled to be joining I.O. Metro, and very excited to lead the company into its next growth phase.” Erdos said. “This next chapter in my career will allow me to pursue my passion and use my decades of experience on a much larger scale.”
To support the company’s planned expansion, Erdos will be shifting the merchandise, marketing and creative offices to Dallas in June 2015. The company’s distribution center, operations and financial offices will remain in Lowell, Ark.
