Century Parent to Buy Hancock & Moore, Jessica Charles

The parent company of Century Furniture and Highland House Furniture has agreed to buy Hancock & Moore, Jessica Charles and the 200 Steele showroom building in High Point.

RHF Investments will also purchase selected assets of Thomas & Gray and Councill Furniture. The deal does not include Councill’s Denton, N.C., facility.

The transaction is expected to close this spring.

RHF is acquiring the companies from current owners  Jack Glasheen, Jimmy Moore and Tim Rogers, all of whom will remain with the newly combined company in executive positions.

“Hancock & Moore is the finest leather upholstery manufacturer in the country, and I’ve spent my career appreciating the quality and integrity they build into their products,” said Alex Shuford III, Century president. “The team that Jack Glasheen, Jimmy Moore and Tim Rogers have created at Hancock & Moore and at Jessica Charles is incredibly strong. I can speak for my family and the Century team in saying that we see this as gaining new members to our family.”

Shuford said he sees great synergies between the companies moving forward.

“The combination of Hancock & Moore with Century Furniture has just felt right from day one,” said Glasheen, CEO of Hancock & Moore and Jessica Charles. “The two companies think alike and both pride themselves on strong foundations of quality craftspeople. Jimmy, Tim and I are excited to continue building on the success of Hancock & Moore and Jessica Charles working with the fine team at Century.”

As with the executive management, the sales representation and distribution for the companies is not expected to change as a result of the acquisition.
