Ethan Allen Opens 75th Store in China

Home furnishings retailer Ethan Allen (NYSE: ETH) has opened its 75th store in China.

Located in Haikou, the capital of the Hainan province, the 25,000-square-foot store is a shared space with Markor Home Furnishings, Ethan Allen’s partner in the Chinese market.

The store’s design represents the retailer’s new generation stores with a classical façade and marble-clad interiors. A second store is planned for Beijing later this year.

"We are taking the retail experience to the next level," said Farooq Kathwari, Ethan Allen CEO. "This is a market that cares deeply about quality and has a passion for classic American style. Needless to say, we feel right at home here."

Ethan Allen has expanded its retail footprint and has opened 11 Design Centers in the last 12 months in key U.S. markets like Houston, Las Vegas and Marlton, N.J. Internationally, the company has opened stores in Dubai, UAE, and Doha, Qatar. Ethan Allen has 13 openings planned for the next 12 months with a continued focus on China.

"As an American brand, we draw upon influences from all over the world, which is one of the many things that continue to keep Ethan Allen so relevant all over the world,” Kathwari said.
