FastFact: 2014 Brought Consistent Growth for Furniture

Last year delivered consistent quarter-to-quarter sales increases to the furniture industry.
Each quarter of 2014 showed significant improvement over the same quarter in the previous year.
In the fourth quarter of 2013, sales for the furniture industry reached $21.6 billion; a year later sales had increased to $22.5 billion.
The depiction of the performance for furniture and bedding, combined, shows a 4 percent increase in sales from the fourth quarter of 2013. The graph provided also shows a 1.4 percent increase from the third quarter of 2013.
At the end of 2014, industry sales had climbed 3 percent.
Furniture, excluding bedding sales, posted sales of $19.7 billion, a 4 percent increase between from the fourth quarter of 2013 to the fourth quarter of 2014.
Strong bedding sales in the first and third quarters in 2014 bumped 2014 sales for the category to $12.62 billion, a 5 percent increase over 2013.
