Our latest FastFact, sponsored by FurnitureCore, analyzes durable goods as the section continues to miss out on consumers' dollars, the slice of spending on furniture has also dwindled.
Furniture’s share has decreased on average by 0.2 percentage points a year between 2006 and the second quarter of 2014.
At the start of 2006, the share made up 8.7 percent of durable goods. In the second quarter of 2014, furniture’s share was reported at 7.5 percent of the durable goods category.
