The showroom is set to open Feb. 26 and will feature a curated selection of Kindel pieces, including its licensed brands — Dorothy Draper, Robert A.M. Stern, Winterthur and Tudor Place.
“Eric’s motto of mining the past to find the future meshed perfectly with our mission,” said Kindel CEO Rob Burch. “This is our first creative collaboration in this capacity with an interior designer. Eric has curated the things we already do well - our execution of made-to-order furniture is unsurpassed - and now presents our collection in the showroom through a new lens.”
The 2,000-square-foot space features a wide glass entrance, spacious floor plan and pairs of floor-to-ceiling doors used to create individual boutiques. The showroom will offer visitors a design lab with a complete library and computer station allowing designers to work on site.
Moving forward, Cohler will help to rebrand Kindel with his take on merchandising, mixing of silhouettes, updating fabrics, and introducing hardware, finishes and paint colors to the line. Cohler has updated many of the classic Kindel silhouettes with new, vibrant shades of tangerine, indigo and vanilla cream.
“I immediately recognized the inherent beauty and relevance of Kindel and I am so excited to guide the company in a way that keeps them relevant to my peers and to me,” said Cohler. “A piece of Kindel furniture is something you buy for a lifetime. For me Kindel is not yesterday’s furniture it is today’s news.”
