The $2 million winner of Edmonton, Canada’s latest lottery says his first purchase with proceeds from his winnings will be furniture.
Edmonton's latest lotto winner says he plans to buy new furniture—for starters—with his winnings.
Donald Owen is the first top prize winner -- scoring a $2-million jackpot on the Jan. 10 draw -- on the "new" WESTERN 649.
Owen bought his $4 WESTERN 649 lottery ticket from the Mac's store at 11615 104 Avenue in Edmonton. It was part of a $20 Super Pack, which gives players quick pick tickets for the upcoming LOTTO 6/49, LOTTO MAX, WESTERN 649 and WESTERN MAX draws.
He checked the ticket at another local store the day after the draw.
"The clerk thought it was $200,000," he said, "But when I put my glasses on and counted the zeroes, I realized it was $2 million."
