FastFact: Spending on Furniture Declines

Consumer spending, as a percentage of personal consumption, has posted a steady decline over the last eight years, according to figures from the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Since 2006 through the the second half of 2014, furniture spending has dropped 0.27 points.
In 2006, furniture represented 1.08 percent of personal expenditures. Through the second quarter of 2014, the category was 0.81 percent of personal spending.
