Los Angeles-based custom furniture retailer and manufacturer Jaxon Mercantile has acquired JC Cody, a furniture manufacturer.
“The acquisition of JC Cody is a milestone for Jaxon,” said Victoria Richter, Jaxon president. “We looked a very long time for a company that would complement our own in-house manufacturing operation, and in JC Cody we found the ideal match. The addition of JC Cody’s talent furthers Jaxon’s role in local furniture manufacturing, and propels us to another area of the business we’d like to compete in.”
Founded in 1985 by Steve Corio and Christine Corio, JC Cody offers a selection of services including prototyping to manufacturing and installation for many of the industry’s top designers, individuals, hospitality and large multi-national companies. JC Cody will relocate its headquarters from West Hollywood, Calif.,to Jaxon’s recently expanded manufacturing operations.
“I’ve known both Steve and Christine for a long time, and I’d see them making smart move after smart move,” Richter said. “Now I’m extremely excited to combine their talents and resources with Jaxon’s. And believe it or not, the idea to join forces hit us both at the same time. Together, we’re going to produce some incredible work. I’m really looking forward to this.”
JC Cody will remain a distinct company within Jaxon, and Steve Corio will join the company as vice president of sales.
“JC Cody’s customers can expect the same quality and approach in the future that has helped it garner industry-wide notice over three decades,” he said.
Christine Corio said JC Cody would benefit from Jaxon’s “youthful energy.”
