FastFact: 5-Year Furniture Sales Outpace TVs, Appliances

Since the recession, sales within the furniture industry have outperformed sales of major appliances and televisions, according to data from the U.S. Department of Commerce.
In the last 14 years, the sales of televisions have grown 140 percent with the majority of growth coming before and during the recession.
In the five years since the recession, furniture industry sales have grown 15.2 percent. Sales of appliances have increased 9.1 percent, and television sales by 3.3 percent during the same five-year period.
