Ikea Plans 1st Tennessee Store for Memphis

Swedish home furnishings giant Ikea plans to build a store in Memphis, Tenn.
IKEA officials confirmed late Monday that they are planning to build a new store in the Memphis area.
During a press conference Tuesday at City Hall, Memphis Mayor A C Wharton and IKEA officials are expected to unveil more details about the store — including its location, job opportunities and opening date.
Ahead of Tuesday’s announcement, there was speculation that the store would be built in Cordova in vacant lot near Kohl’s off Germantown Parkway.
