Ethan Allen unveiled a redesigned flagship store in Manhattan and opened a second location in Dubai last month.
On the evening of Nov. 19, along with co-host Architectural Digest, Ethan Allen staged a grand re-opening of its three-story Manhattan flagship at 1010 3rd Ave. on the Upper East Side. Among the several hundred attendees the event were top interior designers, including Alexa Hampton and Thom Filicia. Danbury, Conn.-based Ethan Allen's president, chairman and CEO, Farooq Kathwari, welcomed the assembled guests with an overview of several hundred all new designs on display, referring to them as "The Next Classics"; and Architectural Digest Editor-in-Chief Margaret Russell declared the Design Center "a jewel box" of a showroom.
On Nov. 26, Ethan Allen hosted a VIP reception to celebrate the grand opening of its second flagship location in Dubai, a sleek 9,000-square-foot modernist showcase on Sheik Zayed Road.
At the event, Kathwari noted that a third of Ethan Allen's 300 Design Centers are now located overseas.
"While we may have started as an American company, today we are a true international brand," he said.
Those in attendance included magazine editors Catherine Belbin of Interiors, Eleanor Joslin of Better Homes, Dmitry Dolzhanskiy of The Art of Living, Rosalind Erskine of Emirates Home, Diala Richa of Lamasat; and the winner of the evening's grand prize, a trip for two to New York City, Dylan Essertier of Savoir Flair.
While the Manhattan and Dubai markets may differ, both are home to a client base that values classic design.
"These are each world-class cities with an abundance of world-class style," said Kathwari. "Ethan Allen feels right at home in both."
