Williams-Sonoma Ups U.S. Upholstery Production

Williams-Sonoma (NYSE: WSM) is expanding upholstered furniture manufacturing at its Sutter Street Mfg. division.

More than 500 full-time positions will be added at facilities in North Carolina, Texas and California by early next year.

“Our factory-to-customer model enables us to offer hand-crafted, high quality, made-to-order upholstered furniture at exceptional value to the consumer. As a result, our business for all Williams-Sonoma Inc. brands has grown significantly in recent years, and we are proud to expand our workforce at Sutter Street Mfg. to meet current demand and support sustainable growth for the future,” said Eric Fulcher, Senior Vice President and Founder Sutter Street Mfg. “We believe it is paramount to support the craft and further the tradition of building quality furniture made in America, and will be adding positions for skilled crafts people and distribution support personnel in all three of our facilities.”

Established in 2007, Sutter Street Mfg. is Williams-Sonoma’s first wholly-owned and operated facility dedicated to furniture manufacturing. The division produces more than 100 different styles of upholstered furniture are produced for San Francisco-based Williams-Sonoma brands, including Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, PBteen, West Elm and Williams-Sonoma Home.
