Furniture Training Co. Updates Popular Program

The Furniture Training Co., a provider of online training for retailers and their salespeople in the home furnishings industry, has released a fully revised version of the company's most popular training program, Furniture Product Knowledge.

Furniture Product Knowledge teaches retail sales associates everything they need to know about the furniture their store sells related to upholstery, case goods, fibers and fabrics, mattresses, leather, rugs and flooring.

The revised and updated Furniture Product Knowledge training program consists of nearly 40 interactive training modules fully redeveloped in HTML 5, the latest Web technology that makes the training accessible in all Web browsers and on any mobile phone or tablet without installing Flash or special apps. A complete new user interface makes the product training easier to use.

The product knowledge content information has been fully updated with hundreds of new photographic images, many provided by furniture manufacturers, to reflect the latest information on furniture styles and fashions. Content text also has been reviewed and revised to reflect the latest trends in home furnishings regarding materials, furniture construction techniques, and product features and benefits. Every product training module includes a graded test for learning accountability, along with implementation activities which have associates using the information they learn out on the sales floor to ensure the training improves performance. Store owners and managers can track each salesperson’s training progress with easy to use reports.

"For the last 12 years furniture retailers from large department stores to small independent retailers with a single stores have been turning to our Furniture Product Knowledge training to make their sales associates furniture experts," said Mark Lacy, president of The Furniture Training Co., Salt Lake City. "Whether new hires or veteran salespeople 92 percent of all associates completing the product knowledge training credit it with increasing their sales. Competition for furniture shoppers is fierce and the store with the better trained, more expert salespeople is the one that will turn their shoppers into customers."

Retailers interested in reviewing The Furniture Training Company's revised product knowledge and other sales training can contact the company by calling 866.755.5996 or sign up online for a demonstration and free trial without any obligation to purchase.

The Product Knowledge program is one of five online training programs The Furniture Training Co. provides to retailers by subscription. The other training includes Selling Skills training modules, Room Design training, Mattress Selling by Gerry Morris, and Customer Service training.

FTC has provided selling skills, product knowledge, room design, customer service, and mattress sales training to nearly a 1,000 home furnishings retailers large and small. The company has certified as experts more than 16,000 salespeople.
