Coconis Opens 3rd Location in Heath, Ohio

Coconis Heath StoreCoconis Furniture has opened its third location in Heath, Ohio, 20 miles east of Columbus on Route 79.

An Oct. 26 private grand opening party with live entertainment, food and beverages that drew more than 600 guests followed a soft opening Oct. 20.

“We had been looking for the right location in the Newark-Heath area for some time, and when this property became available, we felt it was the perfect location," said Randy Coconis, president of the South Zanesville, Ohio, furniture retailer. "It’s a busy state route with a large traffic count situated between Newark/Heath and the popular Buckeye Lake area. The property is the former Carter Lumber facility and the lot size of over 6 acres will allow us to add on later as we grow. We are very excited to be a part of the growing Licking County community. So far, the first few weeks of business have far exceeded our expectations.”

The new Coconis Furniture and Mattress First interior and exterior were designed by Connie Post.

The Heath showroom has 25,000 square feet, and an additional 8,000 feet of showroom and clearance center will be added to the rear of the store. Those additions should be completed early next year. Two pre-existing buildings behind the new store will be used for warehousing and storage. The land and buildings were purchased by Coco Brothers LLC and are being leased back to Coconis Furniture.

The new Coconis Furniture and Mattress First location will feature furniture brands such as Ashley, Klaussner, Décor-Rest, Southern Motion, Flexsteel, Cheers, England, Artisan, Standard, Best and Liberty.

A separate entrance to the store will allow customers to enter the Mattress First area of the store. The bedding department will showcase brands such as Serta, icomfort, iSeries, Tempur-Pedic, Mattress First, Restonic and King Koil.

Deliveries will be handled from the company’s main distribution warehouse in South Zanesville, although customer pick-ups will be available at the new location. The new store is managed by Les McMorrow, who has been with the company for more than 23 years.

Coconis Furniture’s flagship store and distribution warehouse is located in South Zanesville, with a Mattress First satellite store, also in Zanesville. Coconis Furniture, voted National Retailer of the Year in 2013, is a member of the North American Home Furnishings Association, Furniture First buying group and Premier Impact Performance Group.

Coconis Furniture was founded 87 years ago in Zanesville by Nick Coconis, who had emigrated from Greece in the early 1920s. The Coconis operation is now managed by third-generation family member, Randy Coconis; and fourth generation family members, sons Bo (Kyle) Coconis, sales manager, and Chad Coconis, operations manager.
