Nebraska Furniture Mart has begun stocking the 1.3 million-square-foot Dallas-area warehouse that will serve the Omaha, Neb.-based retailer's Texas store when it opens in spring.
The process of filling the now operational facility will take more than 5 months to fill, and will support NFM's 560,000-square-foot retail showroom set to open next year. The warehouse, which is the size of roughly 27 football fields, will utilize an intricate system of racking and equipment to organize and store more than 500,000 pieces of product. The 100 aisles of racking, which equals 6.5 miles, will offer the home furnishings shopper both ease and convenience with in-stock product that is available for delivery, or drive-thru pick-up.
“As we begin to fill the huge warehouse we are hiring and training hundreds of staff, with many hundreds more to come,” said Ed Lipsett, Nebraska Furniture Mart of Texas store director. “As we gear up for our store opening in the spring of 2015, we are focused on ensuring our staff are trained properly, our product is stocked and available for our future customers and that our level of service will exceed customers’ expectations. All of these elements are vital to our success as a company and a success here in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.”
