United Furniture Vies for Former Lane Factory

Growing upholstery supplier United Furniture Inds. is in the running to buy a former Lane office and warehouse in Verona, Miss. United is bidding against Florida-based McCormick Drive LLC, a company whose business records list Ron Wanek, chairman of Ashley Furniture, as manager.
United Furniture Inds. and McCormick Drive LLC have bid on a former Lane Furniture Industries facility.
The companies have offered to buy Lane’s former office and warehouse facility in Verona, according to a bankruptcy filing by FBI Wind Down Inc.
Earlier this year, Heritage Home Group – the umbrella company for Lane, Broyhill, Thomasville, Drexel Heritage, Maitland Smith and other furniture companies that were once part of the now-defunct Furniture Brands International – said it was auctioning 17 Thomasville and Lane properties in all, mostly in North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. The facilities are former manufacturing plants, warehouse and distribution centers and administrative buildings.
