Macy, Bassett Plan Book-Signing at Market
October 15,
2014 by in Industry, Special Events
Author Beth Macy and John Bassett will sign copies of the New York Times best seller “Factory Man” in the Vaughan-Bassett showroom on Saturday, Oct. 18, 4-6 p.m.
The showroom is located the 10th floor of the Commerce Wing of the IHFC.
The book will be on sale for $20, an $8 rebate from the full retail price. All proceeds will benefit Galax Backpack Buddies and The Free Clinic of the Twin Counties. Both charities serve the basic needs of displaced factory workers and their families. Macy and Bassett also will sign copies of the book that have been purchased prior to the Saturday event.
The book has spent about 10 weeks on the New York Times best seller list since its debut in July; and last month Tom Hanks purchased the rights to develop the story into a miniseries for HBO.
“Factory Man” recounts the career of John D. Bassett III, the chairman of Vaughan-Bassett Furniture. Under his leadership, Vaughan-Bassett became the largest producer of wooden bedroom furniture in the United States. In 2013, Vaughan-Bassett had sales of more than $80 million and employed about 700 workers.
