West Elm to Open El Paso Store

Home furnishings retailer West Elm will open a new store in El Paso, Texas, on Thursday.

Located in The Promenade of The Fountains at Farah, the 22,000-plus-square-foot store will feature a curated selection of products made in Texas, part of West Elm’s "Local" initiative. The store also will feature a West Elm Market shop-in-shop that will sell coffee from Brooklyn Roasting Co.

West Elm’s Local initiative, launched this year, taps into local entrepreneurship by empowering the teams in West Elm stores to find makers and designers to build and nurture a creative network that celebrates craftspeople and differentiates the brand with regional assortments.

“The unique style of the region is reflected in the products created by local craftspeople,” said West Elm President Jim Brett. “The West Elm Local assortment celebrates and elevates this community of makers.”

West Elm El Paso will incorporate both temporary and permanent art installations into the store design that are inspired by the brand’s seasonal product and also by the environment, culture, architecture and heritage of the El Paso area. Customers that visit the store will find a map of Texas made from reclaimed lathe wood as well as installations using other reclaimed materials including corrugated steel and weathered metal industrial sliding doors.

The store will be a creative, community-driven space designed to help customers discover their personal style at home. In the store’s Design Center, or in their home customers can work with a free Home Stylist to pick paint colors, fabric swatches or design a furniture plan. The store will open with a first look at West Elm’s holiday assortment, which includes an expanded collection of dining and entertaining pieces, new collaborations and handcrafted pieces from Haiti, India, Peru and the Philippines.

Headquartered in Brooklyn, N.Y., West Elm introduced its first catalog in 2002, followed by its first store in 2003. The brand’s complete assortment can be found in 65 retail stores in the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdon; and around-the-clock at westelm.com.
