Norton, Mass.-based retailer Bernie & Phyl's CEO Bernie Rubin has offered New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady a full-time position as vice president with the retailer.
Rubin's offer was in response to Brady's posting Thursday of his resumé on his Facebook page.
“What’s not to like," asked Rubin. "He’s a Michigan grad with a 3.4 GPA with financial and leisure experience. He certainly has shown leadership qualities and he’s the kind of well-rounded individual who would make for an ideal employee at Bernie & Phyl’s. Besides, his Super Bowl rings make for a nice conversation-starter on the sales floor.”
The fun offer said Brady would be responsible for "being himself."
“He’ll be a pretty valuable asset just for being Tom Brady," Rubin said. "He’s got much to offer our employees and customers and we think he’d be great on the sales floor. We’ll also require that he plays on the company softball team.”
Rubin did concede that Bernie & Phyl's could not match Brady's current salary, but he quipped that the all-star quarterback could save money furnishing his homes through the retailer's employee discount.
Work scheduling could present issues during fall and winter, but Rubin said he would be glad to work around the football schedules.
The offer to Brady stands for as long as necessary. The Pats waited a long time to win a Super Bowl until he came along, so I can wait a few years if need be," Rubin said.
