"We are thrilled to have Joe headline this year’s Pinnacle Award’s Banquet,” states Rick Schroeder, president of the American Society of Furniture Designers. “I don’t know anyone who has his range of expertise in furniture, fabric and interior design.”
Ruggiero has worked as a design consultant on ABC-TV’s “Good Morning, America”, PBS’s “This Old House,” “The Living Magazine” on the Lifetime Cable Network and he has hosted and produced several shows for HGTV.
In the home furnishing industry with Ethan Allen he led the creative and advertising team that increased revenues tenfold. As national spokesperson for Kohler, Ruggiero was instrumental in the development of the Kohler "Coordinates" program, a marketing program created to aid consumers in kitchen and bath remodeling projects.
In the 2000, Ruggiero launched The Joe Ruggiero Collection. Today he designs for upholstery for Miles Talbott, fabrics for Sunbrella, case goods for Gat Creek, decorative throws for Textillery, and outdoor furniture for Terra.
"In 2008, I won my first Pinnacle Award and there’s nothing like recognition from your peers,” Ruggiero said. “I look forward to sharing that experience with another designer, and especially since this year we will be awarding the first Student Design Award. It will definitely be their first.”
Ruggiero will host the awards event with Ray Allegrezza of Furniture/Today.
The Pinnacle Awards, sponsored by the American Society of Furniture Designers, will be held during the High Point Market Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. in the ballroom of the International Home Furnishings Center. Tickets may be purchased online. Special seating in tables of eight or 10 can be arranged by contacting John Conrad, ASFD executive director, via e-mail or by calling (336) 307-0999.
