A Chicago-area Cory Home Delivery team saved a woman's life after a recent traffic accident in Lombard, Ill.
Driver Miguel Mendes and his helper, Jesus Munoz, of M&S Delivery in Chicago had only three deliveries left to do, but called in to the dispatch office to tell say they would be late in completing their route. Mendes explained that earlier that day there was a vehicle in front of them swerving all over the road and it was obvious the driver was in distress. The car came to a sudden stop as it smashed into a guard rail. Mendes pulled up behind the car and noticed the driver was unconscious and needed medical assistance immediately.
Mendes called 911 and was explaining what had happened when Munoz realized they could not open the driver’s door. Mendes punched out the back window, unlocked the driver’s door and lifted the unconscious person out. A nurse, witnessing the event, was able to provide medical assistance and stabilized the woman until the paramedics arrived. The paramedics said that the Cory team's efforts saved the woman’s life.
A few days later, Mendes and Munoz received a letter from the Village of Lombard’s Chief of Police thanking them for their bravery and quick thinking.
