Bradshaw Orrell Creates Line for Chelsea House

Designer Bradshaw Orrell is designing a collection of furniture, lighting, artwork and decorative accessories for Chelsea House for introduction at the Fall High Point Market.

The collection features materials such as metal with gold and silver leaf, and fun lacquered colors including a faux malachite. The collection has subtle Asian undertones in a crisp, clean aesthetic.

“I’m very excited about this new collection,” Orrell said. “It provides me the opportunity to bring affordable sculptural pieces to the market that are the true jewelry of a room. I’m an editor that loves clean lines and crisp bright spaces that are layered with color, texture and pattern. This aesthetic fits perfectly with Chelsea House”

Orrell is the president of Orrell Interiors. After graduating from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, Orrell received a master degree with a focus in furniture design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. He was then named design director for Neirmann Weeks where he designed furniture, lighting and accessories. He then joined Baker Furniture as lead designer in 2003.

“We could not be more thrilled to have Bradshaw designing a collection for us, and it is fabulous,” said Bill Cain, president of Chelsea House. “His use of brass, gold leaf, honed porcelain, French lacquer, wood and glass, comes together beautifully. There are pieces that are stand alone design statements as well as pieces that designers look for every day such as square and round cocktail tables. Our customers are going to find so much they love in this collection.”

Orrell founded Orrell Interiors in 2007. One of his first projects was the Proximity Hotel in Greensboro, N.C., which was the first Platinum Green Hotel in the country. He continues to work on commercial projects including the Proximity Hotel, O'Henry Hotel and Lucky 32 restaurants. Other commercial projects include Biscuitville, Boulton Creative and renovations of Genuity Concepts, Market Square and the repurposing of Summerfield Farms.

Bradshaw's residential projects are traditional with a crisp, clean, modern edge. His work ranges from projects of all sizes to designing projects from the ground up. Although currently his primary focus is equally residential and commercial projects he continues to work closely with the furniture industry. He has consulted on product and showroom design for companies like Wrangler, Kindel Furniture, Zagaroli Classics. He will be introducing a line of leather upholstery with Tiger Leather and a line of bathroom and kitchen sinks with Thompson Traders this year.
