OpenSQL Editor is a SAP add-on is a tool that helps developers to build and test OpenSQL queries.

The main functionality of the add-on is execution of any OpenSQL query on the fly and displaying the results immediately. This feature is missing from the standard SAP development workbench, requiring developers to create new reports each time they wanted to test an SQL command.

Handling productive incidents is also much easier using this tool. A developer can simply copy and paste the problematic SQL query into the OpenSQL Editor and see the results immediately. There is no need to execute a long string of transactions to finally arrive to see the result of the query in the debugger, which can be problematic in a productive environment.
