"Jason Oliver's talents as an interior designer, his passion for our industry and high profile promise to further the Library mission to support home furnishings and interior design, invest in new design talent and promote collaboration in our industry," said Russell Bienenstock, president of the board. "We are lucky to have him as a part of our talented board."
Nixon is global lifestyle editor of Delta Sky Magazine and co-founder of Madcap Cottage, a design firm renown for its whimsical use of color and pattern. On Oct. 19, he and his partner, John Loecke, will open an ever-changing design laboratory on Church Avenue in the heart of High Point that will be part office, part retail and part design incubator.
"I hope to bring my soup-to-nuts outlook to the table that includes using my experience, personal relationships, and passion for the industry to raise awareness and accessibility of the three pillars to a wider community," Nixon said. "The Furniture Library is an amazing resource, but I'd like to see more design enthusiasts using the Library. It should become a 'must-visit' destination for any designer or editor not only during Market, but also throughout the year. The Library has an exceptional collection of some 8,000 books; a sculpture garden for inspiration and reflection; and plenty of work and meeting spaces for research and collaboration. We hope to use this space to bring rotating exhibitions of design and antiquities that will be especially appealing to design and furniture aficionados."
