Fabric and ticking supplier Culp Inc. (NYSE: CFI) has named Boyd Chumbley executive vice president of the company's upholstery fabrics division.
Chumbley is responsible for managing the division, including sales, design, customer service, inventory management, global logistics and quality assurance, and will oversee the company’s international operations in China and Poland. He reports to Frank Saxon, president and CEO.
Chumbley has more than 30 years of experience with Culp. Most recently, he was senior vice president of operations for Culp Upholstery Fabrics and has held various senior management positions in finance, operations and manufacturing. He joined the company in 1984 as controller for one of Culp’s upholstery plants.
“Boyd Chumbley brings extensive experience and knowledge of our upholstery fabrics business to this position," Saxon said. "During his tenure with the company, we have seen significant changes in our business model as we have evolved from a primarily capital-intensive, manufacturing company to a more agile and innovative, marketing-focused business. During this time, we also launched our Culp China platform, which just celebrated its 10th year of operations. Boyd has played a pivotal role in this transformation of our upholstery fabrics business. With Boyd’s involvement, we have established a strong leadership position by remaining focused on what is important to our customers – creative designs, a wide range of innovative products and outstanding service. At the same time, we have achieved five years of consecutive growth in annual sales for upholstery fabrics. We are confident that Boyd will continue to be an important member of our leadership team as we execute our strategy in today’s global marketplace.”
