Mega Group USA Plans Fall Convention

Retail buying group Mega Group USA will host its fall convention in Nashville, Tenn., Aug. 22-25, 2014.

“Nashville is by far our most popular location for our members," said Rick Bellows, president, Mega Group USA. “This year it will be even more exciting because we will be in the brand new Music City Center, a 2 million-square-foot state-of-the-art convention center. Along side of it is also a brand new Omni Center deluxe hotel where our members will enjoy first-class accommodations. All of this is nearby Nashville’s exciting entertainment district where great food, fun and music is all within walking distance.”

Each one of Mega’s vendor partners will have buy-ins and specials for members in attendance. The buying kicks-off Saturday night with the always exciting "Mega Madness," where extra hot buys are made available for only 90-minutes.

One of Mega Group USA’s key initiatives at this convention is focused on the millennial generation in retail. Mega has created seminars and panels on marketing to, and selling to, these younger members of the market, and will also be hosting an informative session for the next generation of retail business owners and managers. These “NextGen” business people will meet and develop relationships with other retailers in similar environments while discussing common issues and challenges; positioning them to take retailing to the next level. Selling to the millennial generation will be a presentation lead by the managing director of the University of Alabama Sales Program and a clinical professor of marketing in the Culverhouse College of Commerce, Joe Calamusa.

Mega also announced the new Mega Digital Studio in-store digital display program. With this program, members can enhance their in-store retail appeal and sales opportunities. Content is available automatically from the vendor brands they carry, Mega specific content, and even their own content, such as promotions, TV ads, product information, financing, and more, with a simple web login and a drag-and-drop interface. Digital Studio allows retailers to leverage their sales team and address "showrooming" with high-quality content to engage customers directly in their store with digital sign or tablet based options.

Product and business education sessions will be a big part of this convention. Nearly two full days will be devoted to a diverse number of topics including advertising, marketing, sales and service. Specific attention will be paid to understanding and managing the many forms of digital marketing. Major vendors will conduct product training sessions for most categories.

An additional highlight at this convention will be "Mattress University." Three sessions led by industry executives will cover sales training, digital marketing, retail operations and best practices as they relate specifically to the mattress business. David Perry, executive editor of Furniture Today will be the guest speaker at the Mattress U luncheon and will deliver updates on the Mattress industry and take questions from the audience.

“The entire Mega Group USA staff is dedicated to making this our best and most productive convention ever,” Bellows said.
