King Koil Has Duck Dynasty License

Duck DynastyBedding vendor King Koil will launch a licensed line of beds with A&E Networks' Duck Dynasty at this month's Las Vegas Furniture Market.

The new nine-model innerspring collection will be displayed in the producer’s newly expanded Las Vegas show space, which now includes an additional 6,100 square feet and encompasses spaces A 535 to 547. Willowbrook, Ill.-based King Koil's total showroom footprint is now 19,000 square feet, representing one of the largest bedding spaces at the World Market Center in Las Vegas.

Expected to retail from $399 to $1,099 in queen-size, King Koil’s Duck Dynasty mattress line incorporates varying layers of gel-infused contour foams, memory foams and other premium comfort materials. The beds have variously quilted covers in cream and use fabric featuring Duck Dynasty’s trademarked brown/green camouflage duck pattern on the borders, handles and as decorative accents.

“Our objective is to provide retailers with a reasonably-priced line that has the brand pulling power to attract and engage the millions of loyal Duck Dynasty fans,” said King Koil President and COO Dave Roberts. “We also want to capitalize on the 18-49 viewership that the series draws and to associate the King Koil brand with a youth demographic that represents both current and emerging customers.”

Based in Louisiana, the reality TV show portrays the lives of the bearded, Christian-centric Robertson family, who became wealthy from the family’s Duck Commander business, which makes a duck hunting call of the same name.

Sometimes controversial, but always engrossing, the show’s fourth season premiere drew 11.8 million viewers.

The Robertsons have appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Conan, The Tonight Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Today, among many other trendy programs. Late last year the family released a Christmas album, "Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas," which earned Platinum status in the United States.

In its Las Vegas presentation, King Koil plans to leverage the popularity and powerful entertainment value of A&E’s Duck Dynasty brand.

The themed mattress collection will be accompanied by new Duck Dynasty retail TV commercials and local ad concepts; arresting life-size in-store signage, plus new headboard messaging and camouflage-accented top-of-bed accessories.

Duck Dynasty interactive games, activities and giveaways are also planned for retailers visiting the showroom.
