Jordan's Program Supports Needy School Children

Boston, Mass.-area retailer Jordan's Furniture and Cradles to Crayons have joined forces to help local children in-need get ready for school this fall.

Starting Sunday and running until Sept. 9, all Jordan's Furniture store locations and the Taunton Distribution Center will accept like-new and new clothes and shoes for children (infant to 12 years old) to go toward the Cradles to Crayons "Ready For School" program. Through partnering social service agencies, the donations will go to children in homeless or low-income situations. This will be the third year for the partnership between the retailer and the organization.

"We are so proud to be working together with Cradles to Crayons. They run an incredibly impressive and efficient operation, ensuring the dignity of the children and families that they serve," said Eliot Tatelman, Jordan's president and CEO. "It is so important for every child to feel important and worthy. By working with the team at Cradles to Crayons, we hope to do our part in helping area children get ready for school and be prepared to learn. We know that our donation drive made an impact during the last two years. We hope for the same success this year."

Cradles to Crayons was founded in 2002, and provides for children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive at home, school and play. Items are distributed to the children via social service agencies such as MSPCC, Horizons For Homeless Children, Head Start Programs, and more.

Cradles to Crayons is based in Brighton, Mass., where the donations are assembled by staff and volunteers for individual KidPacks.

"We are thrilled to partner with Jordan's for the third year in a row on our Ready for School program," said C2C executive director/Boston Sharon Reilly. "Jordan's commitment to assist local children in-need is a true testament to their values as a company. Cradles to Crayons wants every child to start the new school year feeling confident from head to toe, and Jordan's contribution is crucial to this effort. The items collected in their retail stores will ensure thousands of local children will receive the essential items they need to start the school year ready and excited to learn."

Donations will be accepted at all stores locations Jordan's Furniture stores, along with the Jordan's Distribution Center in Taunton. The donation drive strives to provide every child with essentials they need to feel valued so accepted donations should be like-new or new, with no rips, stains, or tears. Accepted items include pants, shirts, sweatshirts, pajamas (new), socks (new), undergarments (new), sneakers, and school shoes. Donations are for children infant to 12-years-old.
