City Furniture President Keith Koenig presented a $2,500 check to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami CEO Mario Artecona at a June 18 grand opening reception for more than 150 guests. With completion of the new Ashley Furniture HomeStore showroom at 18780 South Dixie Highway in Cutler Bay, the site became the latest of seven hybrid City Furniture and Ashley Furniture HomeStore locations. A walkthrough connects the adjoining stores for customer convenience. City Furniture is the Southeast and Southwest Florida licensee for Ashley Furniture HomeStore. The site’s City Furniture showroom opened in fall 2013.
Koenig announced plans to create four new stores and a total of about 150 jobs in the North Miami/Miami Gardens, Dadeland/Pinecrest and Dolphin Mall areas in the next three years.
For many years, Tamarac-based City Furniture has been a major corporate partner of Habitat for Humanity of Broward County.
“Our team has a deep appreciation of Habitat for Humanity’s work in helping hardworking families achieve their dream of home ownership,” Koenig said. “Habitat makes a real and enduring difference throughout South Florida and worldwide.”
The donation will help support the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami’s ReStore home improvement store that opened in mid-2013 at 20811 South Dixie Highway in Cutler Bay, according to Habitat’s Artecona. Offering new and gently used, donated appliances, building materials, flooring and other home improvement items, the ReStore seeks donations of those items. Every dollar raised at the ReStore goes directly toward Habitat’s homebuilding mission.
“As a homegrown South Florida company, City Furniture is well known for helping to meet its communities’ needs,” Artecona said. “We appreciate the company’s assistance as we work to spread the word that Miami-Dade’s only Habitat ReStore is a great source for home improvement products at deeply discounted prices.”
