Borkholder Honors Customers, Sales Reps

Borkholder Furniture honored customers, vendors and sales representatives at a recent gathering that included a golf outing, plant and distribution center tours, and one-on-one meetings with key personnel.

The event culminated with an appreciation dinner held in the Crystal Ballroom at the Lerner Theater complex, an Elkhart, Ind., landmark, where, guest speaker Col. Arthur J. Athens USMCR (Ret.) offered an inspirational talk on “The Power of Integrity.”

Following Athens' presentation, Borkholder, Nappanee, Ind., recognized sales achievements and loyalty of long-term customers of both Kountry Wood Products and Borkholder Furniture, as well as the outstanding service of vendors and the work of dedicated sales representatives for each company.

“Borkholder builds a beautiful product and they really put forth the effort in trying to please us as a customer," said long-time retail customer Marty Darvin, partner at Chicago-based Darvin Furniture. "Of course, with furniture like they make, it’s easy to do. They are also very honorable people who do what they say they are going to do, from the ownership down. And, now that Tom is there, they have the experience they need with dealerships, because that’s where he really shines. He knows the retailers.

“We’re finding that the ultimate consumer really wants to buy better quality. When you shop this line at the Markets, it’s so impressive. When you touch it, feel it, open a drawer, or take a leaf out of a table to see the sliding mechanism, and you learn about how they produce it, it makes you feel really good that you’re carrying the product. As you know, we carry lines from Century down to Bassett and Broyhill, and when we sell this line, we really sell it with confidence. It looks really, really good in our showroom too. When comparing this line to others, consumers can really see the difference they are getting for the price.”

Along with recognizing retail customers for their achievements, Borkholder executives also expressed gratitude for the dedication of their hard-working sales representatives during the event, and honored those who had reached milestones in service: Jay Holloway (five years); Stan Bowen (10 years) and Cal Hardy (25 years).
